Often found in kitchens and bathrooms, cockroaches prefer dark damp places, cracks and crevices, behind appliances and around piping. Cockroaches are tough critters, surviving a month without food and weeks without water. They transmit bacteria and are carriers of many pathogens that cause food poisoning.

Types of Cockroaches found in Ontario
The most common occurring cockroach is the German Cockroach. Usually it is brown in color and has two dark stripes down its back. It has six legs, two long antennae and wings, although it does not fly.
Other species include Oriental and Brown Banded Cockroaches. These roaches can be found in crawlspaces, basements and other areas of structure. They may even travel outdoors.
